Equipment selection
Wet Pan Mill for Gold overview
A wet pan mill is a roller-type wet grinding machine for gold ore: crushed ore and water enter the pan, and heavy rollers press, rub and grind it into a slurry for the gravity recovery stage that follows.
ZD Mining manufactures six standard models from 900 to 1600, covering 0.3–10 t/h. Send your ore type, feed size, hourly target and site power, and we will match the model, roller package and drive before quoting.

Low-cost grinding that keeps running
The parts that wear first—rollers, grinding ring and drive—decide how long a wet pan mill stays profitable. Ours are specified for long service and quick replacement.
Low investment, fast start
A wet pan mill line costs a fraction of a ball mill circuit, so smaller operations start grinding—and earning—sooner.
Wear-resistant rollers
High-manganese roller surfaces and grinding ring hold their profile longer between changes.
Runs on small power
Every model runs on a small site grid or a diesel generating set—no dedicated power room or substation.
Simple on-site repairs
Rollers, ring and bearings can be replaced with local tools and labor—no specialist crew or workshop.
Compact footprint
Fits small sites and existing sheds, and relocates easily when the working face changes.
Uniform grind, steady output
Roller pressure and controlled water addition deliver a consistent slurry to the recovery stage, batch after batch.
How it works
From crushed ore to recovery-ready slurry

Two heavy rollers press and grind crushed ore with water in the rotating pan to below 1 mm, and the slurry overflows straight to gravity recovery. Typical circuit: jaw crusher → fine crusher → wet pan mill → concentrator or shaking table.
Model and capacity guide
Wet pan mill models 900–1600
Six standard models covering 0.3–10 t/h. The 1600 reaches 4–10 t/h on a 30 kW drive. Final output depends on ore hardness, feed consistency, water addition and operating practice.
| Model | Feed ≤ mm | Output mm | Speed r/min | Power kW | Capacity t/h | Weight t |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 900 | 15 | < 1 | 17–19 | 5.5 | 0.3 | 3 |
| 1000 | 25 | < 1 | 13–18 | 5.5 | 0.3–0.5 | 4 |
| 1100 | 25 | < 1 | 13–18 | 5.5–15 | 0.5–0.8 | 4.5 |
| 1200 | 25 | < 1 | 17–19 | 7.5 | 0.5–1 | 5.5 |

Frequently asked questions
FAQ
Clear inputs and realistic expectations produce a more useful technical and commercial response.
What size wet pan mill does my plant need?+
Most small gold plants choose between two models: the 1200 (0.5–1 t/h, 7.5 kW) for a starter line of roughly 10–20 tonnes a day, and the 1600 (4–10 t/h, 30 kW) once daily tonnage passes about 50 tonnes. Below 0.5 t/h the 900–1000 is enough; 1–2 t/h lands on the 1300. Plan about 20% headroom for growth. Send us your daily tonnage and ore hardness and we will size the mill for you.
What feed size can a wet pan mill accept?+
15 mm on the 900 model and 25–30 mm on the 1000–1600 models, measured at the crusher discharge. Keep feed controlled with a jaw crusher ahead of the mill—oversize rock and tramp metal accelerate roller wear and can damage the grinding assembly.
How fine can a wet pan mill grind gold ore?+
Output is below 1 mm, which feeds gravity recovery directly. The mill grinds and mixes ore into slurry in one step; final recovery depends on gold liberation and the concentrator or shaking table downstream.
Wet pan mill or ball mill—which should I choose?+
For small, budget installations the wet pan mill wins: lower investment, simpler foundations, easier on-site repair, and enough grind for gravity recovery. Choose a ball mill when ore is hard, throughput is higher, or the circuit needs a finer, tightly controlled grind. Between the two? Send your ore hardness and hourly target and we will tell you which pays back faster.
Can it run on diesel power?+
Yes. With installed power from 5.5 to 30 kW, every model runs comfortably on a diesel generating set. Size the generator about 20–30% above the motor rating to absorb starting load, and confirm site altitude so the set is correctly rated.
What equipment works after the wet pan mill?+
Wet pan mills feed gravity recovery directly—centrifugal concentrators, sluices and shaking tables are the common pairing, with a jaw crusher ahead of the mill. Tell us what you already own and we will quote only the missing scope.
How much does a wet pan mill cost?+
Price scales with roller diameter, drive size and the wear package included. Entry 900–1000 models are the most affordable grinding stage in gold processing; the 1300 and 1600 add capacity, power and weight. As a factory-direct supplier with no trading-company markup, we confirm each quotation against your ore, scope, packing and delivery terms.
How long does production and delivery take?+
Standard models are typically ready within 7–15 working days after order confirmation. Ocean transit adds roughly 10–25 days to Southeast Asia, 15–30 days to West Africa and 20–35 days to South America depending on the port, and full tracking documents are provided once the shipment leaves the factory.
